Favorite Toronto Neighborhoods (Discussion)

Of course it’s too hard to pick just one, so I am going to list my top favorites:

  • Roncesvalles – This is where I live. I love Cherry Bomb for some good coffee and going for walks through the different streets at night. I enjoy Fat Cats too for some good wine and tapas, especially in the summer when their garden patio is open.
  • Parkdale – This was the first neighborhood I was exposed to when I moved to Toronto, going for a beer at The Rhino is still one of my favorite things.
  • Dundas West – I often walk down Dundas to and from work, there is a Pho place at Brock Ave. that is one of my faves.
  • The Annex – Erin (my girlfriend) lived here for a while, I always loved going for lunch at Ezra’s Pound on a Saturday.
  • Queen West – This is where LearnHub is located, I really like the area. The AGO is great, the 401 Richmond building is home to many cool design firms and stores, you definitely have to check it out. Favorite places to eat around here are HoSu (try #50 with brown rice,) Fusaro’s for some comforting Italian, Orange Alert for one of the best Americano’s in town, Greenavi also makes a mean Americano.
  • The Danforth – Erin lived here for a little while too, I really like the homes in this area. I had the best baklava ever during the Taste of The Danforth festival.

So many enjoyable places in our city, I know there are even more that I’m just not thinking of at the moment. Anyways, how about everyone else? What about people that don’t live in Toronto, what are your favorite places?

I haven’t been exposed to too many Toronto neighbourhoods. Queen West is really cool though, it’s so alive and kickin’. The whole fashion and entertainment district around King and Queen on Downtown West is just really nice. I also like walking around the Annex, I used to volunteer in the Spadina and Bloor area and it was a pretty funky location.

    • Kensington Market – this is sort of the hippie artsy neighbourhood. Lots of eclectic shops here. One of my favourites is the Blue Banana Market shop, which is an indoor market filled with stalls. There’s also some yummy bakeries and cheese shops here.
    • Yorkville – I will admit it, I like this neighbourhood. This is where the rich or famous people are known to shop and eat, but it’s quite a pretty area. My favourite part is the small park in the middle with a giant rock and a unique fountain. It reminds me of my high school days when I used to go here and just sit on the rock. It’s also very pretty at night. There’s also a cute Betsey Johnson store there! They have the funkiest dresses.
    • Chinatown – I like walking through Chinatown in the early evening. There are some great restaurants to eat at. I love the swiss rolls and sausage buns at the Chinese bakeries. I love the busyness of it, the smell of the foods cooking in the air and just the different cultural atmosphere in general.

hmmm the Danforth is great. I lived just south of it in Riverdale for 15 years. Everything you can dream of is within easy walking distance and Allen’s is a fantastic gastro-pub
